The Academic Staff Union of Universities has said that it is meeting with the government on Friday in a bid to avert the looming strike action over fresh disagreements with the government.
The union has reportedly been invited by the Labour Minister for the fence mending interaction. Read more
It will be recalled that the new ASUU National President, Prof Emmanuel Osodeke, had hinted at the possibility of renewed strike action over disagreements with the government.
The issues in contention range from the “amputated salaries” and “selective payment” of members, coupled with government’s insistence on paying through the IPPIS platform that has been faulted by many unions, to government’s refusal to pay Earned Academic Allowances (EAA). Read more
