In a replay of the usual political bickering over the citing of federal facilities, an aide to President Buhari is said to have engaged in a bitter exchange with the governor of his state, Akwa Ibom, over the precise location of a new university in the state.
According to reports. a former senator and current aide to President Buhari on Niger Delta Affairs, Ita Enang, has expressed unhappiness that the new university is not cited in his home town, despite his allegedly having facilitated its establishment in the state. Inang accused the governor, Udom Emmanuel, of allegedly scheming to locate the university in his own home town.
However, the state government refuted the allegations, claiming instead that Mr Inang is only seeking attention and allegedly wanting to feather his own nest.
The bitter bickering once again exposes the politics of citing federal institutions, which favours nepotism and favoritism rather than merit.
